Toreros Drop Final Match 2-0 to LMU

(Los Angeles, CA) San Diego dropped their final match of the 2005 season 2-0 against LMU Sunday afternoon finishing 9-6-5 overall and 4-5-3 in the WCC.

The Toreros out-shot the Lions 14-7 with 5 shots-on-goal against LMU goalie Robert Flores.

In the 30th minute, USD fouled Armando Melendez inside the penalty box. This gave Melendez a penalty kick which he capitalized on lifting LMU to a 1-0 lead.

In the 47th minute, LMU was back in Torero territory when Armando Melendez put up a corner kick. The scramble for the ball got allowed Tony Chinakwe to drop a shot past goalie Lance Friesz giving the Lions a 2-0 lead.

The 2005 NCAA playoff brackets will be announced Monday afternoon.
