CORVALLIS, OR - The University of San Diego golf program began the 2005 fall season Monday, competing at Oregon State's Northwest Collegiate Classic. Torero Brian Phan leads all USD players, shooting a 2-under par 70-72 during the first two rounds at Trysting Tree Golf Club (Par 72; 7070 yards). True freshman George Coetzee opened up with a 1-under 71 and classmate Jake Yount shot 1-under 71 during second round play. Both are in a tie for 41st overall. The 15-team tournament continues on Tuesday.
