San Diego Ties Dartmouth 0-0 in Season Opener

Northridge, Calif. - The University of San Diego Men's soccer team opened up its 2005 season with a scoreless tie against Dartmouth University this afternoon at the Second Annual Matador Soccer Classic, held on the campus of Cal State Northridge. The Toreros outshot the Big Green, the defending Ivy League Champions, by a 21-16 margin. Junior team captain Michael Caso lead the San Diego offensive attack, producing seven shots, while junior Ryan Guy added four shots of his own. Dartmouth had the edge in corner kicks with eight compared to USD's five. Junior goalkeeper Lance Friesz anchored the Torero defense, playing the entire 110 minutes and coming up with five saves throughout the match. San Diego improves to 0-0-1, with Dartmouth sporting an identical record for the season.

San Diego returns to action on Monday, September 5 when they take on Oakland at 11:30 AM in their second match of the Northridge tournament.
