Final Stats

(San Diego, CA) - The USD Toreros won their second straight game with tonight's 92-72 home win over the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners before 1,538 fans at the Jenny Craig Pavilion. The win also improved USD's home record this season to a perfect 3-0. Gyno Pomare (17 points, 13 rebounds) and Theo White (11 points, 10 rebounds) each tallied double-doubles, and Daniel Fleming poured in four treys, and made all six of his field goal attempts, to finish with a personal-best 16 points. USD also got double digit scoring from Brandon Johnson (12 points, 7 assists, 4 steals) and De'Jon Jackson (11 points). USD now heads to the Golden Bear Classic at Cal this Friday and Saturday where they will start with Eastern Michigan on Friday at 5 pm.

"I'm really pleased with the way we played tonight," said head coach Brad Holland. "We had a tremendous first half and dominated the boards. And we had a lot of different players contribute offensively. It's nice to have our new guys playing confidently now. Overall we are just a more confident team then we were ten days ago."

The Toreros came out ready to play and held a convincing 50-32 halftime advantage. In the first 20 minutes USD shot 55.9% from the field and outrebounded the smaller Roadrunners, 24-7. At halftime Gyno Pomare, who came off the bench, had 13 points and 10 rebounds. For the game USD ended up shooting a season-best 58.7% on 37-63 shooting. The Toreros, led by Fleming's four made treys, bombed in 10 of 20 three-pointers. Cal State Bakersfield was paced by guard Dwaun Rice with 18 points.
