PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Pooh Jeter had 23 points as Portland concluded its regular season with a 90-72 win over San Diego on Monday.
Darren Cooper and Alex Tiefenthaler added 15 points apiece for the Pilots (11-17, 5-9 West Coast Conference), who trailed by two at the half but erupted for 53 points after the break.
Nick Lewis had a game-high 25 points for San Diego (16-11, 6-8), moving him into USD's No. 2 spot for career scoring with 1,397 points.
The Pilots shot 60 percent in the second half, and the final 12 minutes were arguably their finest stretch of the season. Cooper and Tiefenthaler combined for 11 points in a 13-0 run that turned a 56-51 deficit into a 64-56 lead, and the Pilots poured it on from there.
Portland has won three of four. The defeat was an overtime loss to San Francisco on Saturday.
San Diego also got double-digit scoring from
Ross DeRogatis and
Nir Cohen, each with 10 points. San Diego struggled with their shooting, connecting on just 6-of-23 three-pointers (26.1%) and 16-of-26 free throws (61.5%). San Diego heads into this week's WCC Tournament as the No. 5 seed and will take on No. 8 seed Pepperdine in Friday's first game at 6:00 pm.
