(Santa Cruz, CA) - The USD men's golf team turned in a solid final round team score of 288 to move up four spots to finish third overall in the 60th Annual Western Intercollegiates being played at the Pasatiempo Golf Course in Santa Cruz, California. Yesterday's second round was rained out and the tournament was turned into a two-round format. Torero sophomore Bucky Coe (La Costa Canyon HS) carded a 69 today over the 6,432 yard layout to finish at 140 overall, good for a 2nd place tie with UTEP's Trent Rommann. Stanford's Ron Grube won medalist honors with a 138 (68-70). USD freshman Michael Barry tied for 14th overall with a two-round total of 145 (73-72). Duke won the team event with a total of 577 and was followed by runner-up Stanford at 579.
In helping the Toreros post the second best team score today, Luke Antonelli fired a 72 to finish in a tie for 25th at 148. He was followed by Jimmy Harris (t-42nd at 151; 76-75) and Jake Yount (t-84th at 162; 79-83).
