Softball Seniors Selected for All-Academic Honors

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - University of San Diego softball senior's Gina McFarland and Sara Mason have been named to the ESPN The Magazine first team Academic All-District for their outstanding performance in the classroom.

Mason, a catcher for the softball team, will be graduating this month with a degree in Sociology, and a minor in Spanish and philosophy. Mason held a 3.75 cumulative GPA entering the spring season. She finished the season hitting 44-for-129 (.341) with ten doubles, four triples, one homerun, 22 RBI, and 30 runs scored.

Senior Gina McFarland, an accounting major, entered the spring semester with a 3.63 GPA


McFarland, an outfielder and pitcher for the Toreros, will be graduating with a double major in accounting and mathematics. McFarland held a 3.63 cumulative GPA entering the spring season. She finished the season hitting 41-for-132 (.311) with eight doubles, two triples, 21 RBI, and 15 runs scored.

The two Toreros are automatically entered onto the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American ballot, the results of which will be announced later this month.
