SAN DIEGO (AP) - Adoyah Miller scored 19 points and Marko Deric scored a key late basket to lead Loyola Marymount to a 71-66 win over San Diego on Saturday.
Loyola Marymount (12-14, 4-6 West Coast) got a big play from Deric with 1:08 left when he scored off a loose ball under the basket after a missed Lions shot for a 69-66 lead.
Following a San Diego turnover, Loyola Marymount worked the clock down to 11.8 seconds before John Montgomery was fouled on a drive to the basket. Montgomery hit both free throws.
Nir Cohen tied his career high with 18 points for San Diego (14-11, 4-6). Cohen also had l1 rebounds. The Toreros have dropped five of seven games, and lost despite a 42-30 rebounding edge that included 21 offensive rebounds.
The Lions, coming off a 67-61 win over six-time defending conference champion Gonzaga on Monday night, won their third straight and have won four of five.
Loyola Marymount played most of the game without leading scorer Matthew Knight, who suffered a concussion when he hit the back of his head on the court after a collision with San Diego's Ray Murdoch less than four minutes into the game.
Derick Grubb replaced Knight and scored 10 points with tied his career high with 11 rebounds.
