SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Stephanie Ochs' third goal of the season lifted the 15th-ranked University of San Diego women's soccer team to a 1-0 West Coast Conference win over visiting University of San Francisco Friday evening at Torero Stadium.
With the win, the Toreros improve to 10-3-2 overall, move to 2-0-0 in the WCC and have now won three consecutive matches. With the loss, the Dons fall to 5-8-2 overall and 0-2-0 in the WCC.
At the 65:58 mark, Natalie Garcia looped a ball over the heads of the Dons defense and into the goal box, where Ochs took one touch to control the ball and hit a laser strike into the back of the net to give USD the 1-0 win.
San Diego outshot the Dons 17-1 and held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Senior goalkeeper Brittany Cameron was credited with the win in goal for the Toreros as she allowed no goals and recorded one save. Kelly Pohle was saddled with the loss for San Francisco as she allowed one goal and recorded seven saves.
The Toreros will return to action on Sunday as they host Saint Mary's in a 1 p.m. WCC match at Torero Stadium.
