(Notre Dame, Ind.) - The USD golf team finds itself in 9th place (16 teams) with one round to go at the 2008 Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic. The Toreros shot team scores of 302-299 for a two-round total of 601 on the Warren Golf Course (par 70/7,023 yards). The top five teams through two rounds consist of Minnesota (579), Arkansas (580), Michigan State (583), Virginia (583) and Lamar (586). Virginia's Kyle Stough (71-70) and Michigan State's Randy Hutchison (69-72) are the clubhouse leaders at one-over par 141.

USD's Dale Smith was the team's top performer today, finishing tied for 17th at 147 (72-75). He is followed by Darrin Hall (t-38 at 151; 75-76), Alex Ching (t-46 at 152; 79-73), Ben Murray (t-61st at 155; 80-75) and Blake Trimble (t-61st at 155; 76-79). The final round of play will take place at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
