(San Diego, CA) - The USD Toreros evened their record at 3-3 after dealing San Diego Christian College (2-3) an 82-48 defeat. Junior forward Chris Lewis led the Toreros in scoring for the second straight game as he totaled a career-high 19 points on 7-for-11 shooting. He chipped in with 7 rebounds and 2 steals. Roberto Mafra turned in a solid effort with 13 points and 5 rebounds, and Brandon Johnson tallied 10 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. USD heads to Bakersfield Monday to take on the Roadrunners in a 7 p.m. contest.
San Diego, which was coming off of back-to-back losses to Top-25 teams (Wisconsin & Miami) from their trip to the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands, turned in a solid first half in posting a 46-27 intermission lead. Lewis had 13 of his 19 by halftime as the Toreros converted on 60% of their shots (18-30) and made 5-of-6 treys.
For the game every Torero saw action with Ryan Harbour coming in off the bench in the 2nd half to score 6 points and dish out 2 assists. For the game USD shot 58.8% from the field (30-51) and 83.3% from the free throw line (15-18). San Diego Christian was paced by James Green with 10 points.
