Round One Results 
Kauai, HI - The USD men's golf team is tied for 4th place after the first of three rounds at the 2008 Kauai Collegiate Invite being played on the Puakea Course (par 71; 6954 yards) in Kauai, Hawaii. USD shot a team score of 286 (2 over par) and is tied with James Madison. The top three teams in the fourteen team event are San Jose State (283), Drake (284) and Gonzaga (285). San Jose State's Mark Hubbard is the first round leader after he carded a 5-under par 66 (29-37). Hubbard is followed by Derek Wallace of NC Wilmington (67), Tim Driver of James Madison (68) and Blake Brown of Boise State (68). USD freshman Alex Ching who is from Honolulu, Hawaii, shot USD's low round with a two-under par 69 (33-36) and is tied for 5th with five other players.
Rounding out USD scoring is Jason Shano (t15 at 71; 35-36), Jake Yount (t21 at 72; 36-36), Blake Trimble (t38 at 74; 38-36) and Dale Smith (t68 at 80; 40-40). The second of three rounds will be played tomorrow.
