SAN DIEGO (AP) - Matt Bouldin scored 13 points, including a key late basket, to lead Gonzaga to a 59-55 win over San Diego on Monday night before a standing-room only crowd at the Jenny Craig Pavilion
The win kept Gonzaga (21-6, 10-1 West Coast) in a first-place tie with No. 23 Saint Mary's. The Bulldogs won for the 13th straight time against the Toreros since losing in 2003 WCC Tournament finals at San Diego.
San Diego (15-12, 8-2 WCC) had its seven-game win streak snapped as its top two scorers struggled. Brandon Johnson was 2-for-15 from the field and finished with eight points and Gyno Pomare scored four points.
Trumaine Johnson led the Toreros with 17 points, all in the second half, including 5-for-7 from 3-point range in the second half.
Gonzaga, which led 25-20 at halftime, took a 35-26 lead nearly six minutes into the second half as David Pendergraft scored eight of the Bulldogs' first 10 points of the second half. Pendergraft finished with 10 points.
Gonzaga never trailed in the game but San Diego closed to 54-52 on Danny Brown's 3-point shot with 1:13 left. Brown gave the Toreros a huge lift off the bench as he finished with 11 points, with 8 coming in the 2nd half. Brown connected on 3-of-6 three-pointers.
Bouldin scored on a reverse lay-up with 29.9 seconds left to give Gonzaga a 56-52 lead.
