Golfers 5th after two rounds of San Francisco Intercollegiate

(San Francisco, CA; The Olympic Club) - The USD men's golf team finds itself in 5th place after two rounds of the San Francisco Intercollegiate being played at the historic Olympic Club. The first two rounds were played on the Lake Course (par 71; 6,833 yards). The Toreros own a two-round team score of 584 in the fifteen team field and trail Cal (568), UAB (579), Xavier (582) and Colorado (583). USD was paced by fifth-year senior Darrin Hall and freshman Alex Ching, both tied for 6th overall. Hall fired back-to-back rounds of 72 for his 2-over par 144, while Ching netted scores of 74-70. Rounding out USD's scoring was senior Blake Trimble (tie-27th at 147; 75-72), sophomore Jason Shano (tie-35th at 149; 75-74) and senior Jake Yount (tie-51st at 152; 78-74). The final round will once again be played on the Lake Course.

The Cal Bears built their comfortable team lead on the strength of George Gandranata and Michael Jensen, both tied for 1st after shooting one-under par scores of 141 (both carded 71-70 scores).
