Box Score

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Christine Mock and Mariah Hobbs each scored a goal to help propel the University of San Diego women's soccer team to a 2-0 West Coast Conference win over Pepperdine University Sunday afternoon at USD's Torero Stadium.

With the win, the Toreros improve to 10-5-2 overall, move to 3-1-1 in the WCC and run their winning streak to three. With the loss, the Waves fall to 8-7-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the WCC.

At the 33:14 mark, Stephanie Ochs had the ball deep in Pepperdine territory, she then chipped a pass to Addie Cartan, who in turn then sent a cross to Mock, who got her leg on the ball and redirected it into the back of the net to give the Toreros the only goal they would need.

San Diego then put the match put of reach in the 64th minute of action. A lose ball to the far side of the goal box pulled Pepperdine's keeper out of the goal, where Elissa Magracia was there to take it away from the keeper, then crossed it into the center of the goal box, where Mock faked as though she would take a shot, which froze the Pepperdine defender, and allowed the ball to go to the feet of Hobbs, who hit a one-timer into the back of the net to put the match at its final of 2-0.

USD out shot the Waves 9-7 and held a 5-3 advantage in cornerkicks.

Courtney Parsons picked up the shutout in goal for the Toreros, as she allowed no goals and recorded a pair of saves. Pepperdine's Roxanne Barker was saddled with the loss for the Waves as she allowed two goals and recorded five saves.

The Toreros will return to action on Friday when they host Gonzaga University in a 7 p.m. WCC match at Torero Stadium.
