PORTLAND, Ore. - A pair of first half goals lifted the No. 2 University of Portland Pilots to a 2-0 win over the University of San Diego women's soccer team in the West Coast Conference finale for both teams.
With the loss, the Toreros finish the regular-season at 12-6-2 overall and finish second in the WCC with a 5-2-0 mark. With the win, the Pilots finish the regular-season with an 18-1-0 overall record and win the WCC Championship with a 7-0-0 record.
San Diego will now await the NCAA selection show on Monday to see if they have earned an at large bid into the NCAA tournament.
Portland's Kendra Chanhoke scored an unassisted goal from 20 yards out in the 25th minute of action to score the game-winning goal for the Pilots.
The Pilots' second goal came in the 37th minute of action when Sophie Schmidt scored off a corner kick to put the match at its final of 2-0.
One of the Toreros' best scoring opportunities came in the seventh minute of action, as Christine Mock hit a laser strike from the far right wing, but the Portland keeper was there to record the save.
In the 29th minute of action, Mock again had a good look at the goal as she fired off a laser strike from the top of the box, but Kelsey Davis was there again to record the save.
San Diego was outshot 10-3 and Portland held a 5-2 advantage in cornerkicks.
USD's Courtney Parsons was saddled with the loss in goal for the Toreros as she allowed two goals and recorded two saves. Portland's Kelsey Davis was credited with the win on goal for the Pilots as she allowed no goals and recorded two saves.
