(Wahiawa, HI) - The USD golf team finds itself in 11th place (16 teams) after first round action at the 2009 John Burns Intercollegiate being played at the Leilehua Golf Course (par 72, 6917 yards). Arizona turned in the top team score with a 276 (-12) and is closely followed by New Mexico (277), Arkansas (280), BYU (281) and Auburn (283). Individually UofA's Tarquin Macmanus fired a 64 (-8) and is being chased by Jay Myers of San Jose State (66) and Jordan Hammer of BYU (66). USD's Jake Yount and Jason Shano are both tied for 20th after carding 70's (-2). Rounding out USD scoring is Gunner Wiebe (t45 at 73), Kenneth McCready (t53 at 74) and Alex Ching (t65 at 75). Second round action will be played Thursday morning.
