Toreros Play Broncos to 2-2 Tie

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Patrick Wallen scored two second half goals to force overtime against the Santa Clara Broncos after two Patrick Wallen scores knotting up the match. It what could only be described as a high intensity match with over 30 fouls and eight cautions, neither team could pick up the victory in double overtime as they left Buck Shaw Stadium stuck at a draw.

San Diego moves to 5-6-2 overall and 2-3-1 in the West Coast Conference. Santa Clara moves to 5-4-5 overall and 2-0-4 in the WCC.

Mykell Bates scored early in the first half off a rebound to take a quick 1-0 lead in the 11th minute.

San Diego responded after the intermission when Dan Delgado and Patrick Wallen played through Santa Clara on a give and go push to put Wallen in the right spot to score tying the match at 1-1.

Santa Clara would score in the 76th minute when Rodrigo DaSilva fed Eric Masch for a shot taking a 2-1 lead.

With four minutes left to go, USD drew a penalty kick opportunity which was taken by Wallen who didn't miss taking his first career PK attempt tying the match up at 2-2.

The Broncos would fall a man down after Brandon Zimmerman would be sent off with his second yellow card of the match. The Toreros outshot the Broncos 5-1 in the two overtime periods but were unable to connect leaving the match tied up at 2-2.

10 different Toreros took shots against Santa Clara while five different Toreros took shots on goal. USD had six corner kicks to Santa Clara's three.

San Diego takes an extended amount of time off after playing six games in seven days and will return to face the Lions of LMU at home on Wednesday, October 27 at 7:00 p.m. at Torero Stadium.
