PROVO, Utah - The 58th ranked University of San Diego men's tennis team were knocked off Friday afternoon, 6-1, by nationally-ranked Brigham Young University at the host site of the BYU Tennis Complex.
San Diego drops its fourth straight, falling to an overall mark of 7-6, while the Cougars improve to an impressive 14-3.
Once again, the bright spot for the Toreros was Nikola Bubnic, who played at Court #1 for the third consecutive match. The 100th ranked player in the nation tallied his eleventh win of the season with a straight set triumph of Thomas Shubert. Bubnic also grabbed his doubles decision along side teammate Charl Wolmarans, with an 8-6 defeat of a familiar face in Shubert, who partnered with Georgy Batrakov at Court #1.
San Diego will try and break its skid with its second consecutive contest against a Mountain West Conference foe. The Toreros are set to take on Utah in Salt Lake City tomorrow, as the match is slated to kick off at 12 p.m PT.
