Complete Women's Rankings
SAN DIEGO, Calif.- The University of San Diego women's tennis team held steady at No. 24 for the third-straight week in the most recent Campbell/ITA rankings released Tuesday afternoon. The Toreros (16-4, 3-2 WCC) defeated then-No. 45 San Diego State and Oregon, both by a score of 6-1, this past week to close out the regular season on a nine-match winning streak.
Sophomore Stephanie Hoffpauir moved up to No. 68 in singles after earning a No. 75 ranking two weeks ago. Hoffpauir improved to 13-4 on the year with wins over San Diego State's Julia Trunk and Oregon's Pavlina Smatova, who was ranked 116th at the time. The win over Smatova was Hoffpauir's fourth over a ranked opponent this season.
Hoffpauir and junior Juliette Coupez jumped up six spots to No. 57 in the doubles rankings following back-to-back wins over then-No. 51 Sierra and Roxanne Ellison of SDSU and Smatova and Patricia Skowronski of Oregon. USD's No. 1 tandem is 10-7 on the year with wins over two top-30 pairs this season.
This marks the fifth-straight week the Toreros have been ranked in the top-25. The last time USD finished the season in the top-25 was in 1996 when the Toreros finished at No. 25 with a 15-9 record, while losing in the first round of the NCAA championships.
The Toreros will battle for the West Coast Conference crown next week at the WCC Championships at Barnes Tennis Center in San Diego, Calif. April 21st-23rd.
