SAN DIEGO, Calif.- The University of San Diego women's tennis team had four members of the squad earn 2011 ITA Scholar Athlete honors as Juliette Coupez, Laura Claus, Anna Depenau, and Cara Brown took home the academic recognition. The ITA Scholar Athlete designation was awarded to varsity letter winners who had a GPA of 3.5 or above during the 2010-2011 academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
Coupez (Lesquin, France), a senior-to-be, is a Mechanical Engineering major who earned a 3.82 GPA this past school year. She was also named to the West Coast Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll and the WCC Spring All-Academic team.
Claus (Wiesbaden, Germany), a junior-to-be, is majoring in Business and posted a GPA of 3.93 this year, which was the highest GPA of all USD student-athletes during the 2010-2011 academic year. Claus was also named to the WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll and joined Coupez on the WCC Spring All-Academic team.
Depenau (Geilenkirchen, Germany), earned a 3.84 GPA in her freshman year at USD. The Marketing major also earned WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll distinction.
Brown (South Bend, Ind.), a junior-to-be, tallied a 3.58 GPA in her first season as a Torero after transferring from Washington State. A Visual Arts major, she was also named to the WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll.
