In the first set, USD hit .458, while the Torero defense did its job and held the opponents to a -.222 attack percentage. A GW attack error began the frame and started a 10-2 Torero run to begin the set. USD never let its foot off the gas, as they cruised their way to a 25-9 win.
In the second set, it was more of the same, as USD opened up on a 10-2 run yet again. San Diego just seemed too much to handle for the Colonials, as USD hit .324 in this frame and GW hit .050. The Colonials could not get any closer than five for the rest of the set, before falling 25-13 to allow USD to go into the break up two sets to none.
In the third and final set, the Colonials would manage to keep things close in the early going. But once USD was leading 6-4, a GW attack error then jump started a 6-0 San Diego run that was book ended on a Alvey kill to give USD a 13-4 edge. The Toreros never looked back as they went on to complete the sweep with a 25-15 win.
The Toreros will return to action later this evening as they host Indiana in the final match of the USD invitational at 7 p.m.
