The Anteaters would not allow USD to captured the lead however, as they managed to hold off the Toreros by a 2-3 point margin for most of the last half of the set. Then with USD trailing 23-20, a Tatsch kill ignited a 5-0 San Diego run to give USD a 2-0 lead heading into the break.
In the third and final set, USD found its stride, as they came out on fire and raced out to a 9-3 lead.
