Toreros in 6th place at Jack Nicklaus Invitational

(Dublin, OH) - The USD men's golf team finds itself in 6th place (11 teams) following today's first of two rounds at the Jack Nicklaus Invitational which is being played at historic Muirfield Village Golf Club. The tournament has been changed to a 36-hole tournament due to morning frost on the course. The Toreros shot a team score of 309 (+21) and trail Oklahoma State (295; +7), Kentucky (302; +14), BYU (302; +14), Kent State (303; +15) and Ohio State (308; +20). San Diego finds itself ahead of Arkansas, Vanderbilt, UNLV, Purdue and UCF.

Torero sophomore Grant Forrest is currently tied for 4th place after carding a 1-over par 73. At the top of the leaderboard is Greg Eason of UCF (70; -2), Ian Davis of Oklahoma State (71; -1) and Taylor Zoller of Kent State (72; E). Rounding out first round scoring for USD is sophomore Lina Vaisanen (T19 at 76), junior Mathias Dahl (T31 at 79), sophomore Alexis Gemme-Piacente (T46 at 81) and freshman Alex Chiarella (T50 at 82).

The Toreros are scheduled to tee-off tomorrow beginning at 8:30 a.m. (central) with players from BYU and Ohio State.
