SALT LAKE CITY — Two Torero freshmen notched Top-25 finishes in their college debut this week as San Diego men's golf opened up its schedule by competing at The Wohali at Wohali Golf Course (Par 71, 7,700 yards).
Reed Arnaldo led the way for USD by placing 18th (+1) with scores of 70, 72, and 72 (214 total strokes). As a team, San Diego placed ninth of 14 teams, finishing 23 strokes over par with combined rounds of 367, 373, and 367 (1,107 strokes in total).
Charlie Gillespie finished in 22nd place to join Arnaldo in the Top-25. He carded rounds of 71, 75, and 70 (216 total strokes) to check in at three over par. He was followed by
You Seong Choi (47th place, +11, 77, 75, 72),
Cooper Humphreys (48th place, +12, 75, 76, 74), and
Ian Maspat 53rd place, +15, 74, 75, 79).
The Toreros are back in action on Monday, September 22, when they begin play in The Tindall, which will be hosted by the University of Washington at Gold Mountain Golf Course in Bremerton, Washington.
