Duke Deals USD a 4-1 Loss

DURHAM, N.C. - The University of San Diego women's soccer team dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 4 Duke University Friday evening in a non-conference match.

The Blue Devils (5-1-0) got on the scoreboard first, as in the ninth minute of action, Kaitlyn Kerr was able to redirect a cross from Katie Tress and Cassie Pecht and put the ball into the back of the net.

USD (3-4-0) was then once again n even ground with the home team, as the Blue Devils scored an own goal off one of their defenders in the 14th minute of play, moving the score to 1-1.

Duke then went on to score goals in the 25th, 29th and 41st minutes to put the match at its final of 4-1.

The Toreros were outshot 27-4, and the Blue Devils held a territorial 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.

McKenna Tollack was saddled with the loss in goal for the Toreros, as she allowed four goals and recorded a career-high 10 saves. Tara Campbell was credited with the win for the Blue Devils, as she allowed one goal and recorded two saves.

The Toreros will return to action on Sunday, as they take on No. 18 North Carolina in an 8 a.m. non-conference match.
