Box Score

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Behind a balanced offensive attack, the 12th-ranked University of San Diego women's volleyball team cruised its way to a 3-0 win over Santa Clara University Saturday afternoon in a West Coast Conference match at the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

With the 25-15, 25-17, 25-10 win, the Toreros improve to 13-3 overall, move to 4-2 in the WCC, and extend their winning streak to four. With the loss, the Broncos fall to 7-9 overall and 2-6 in the WCC.

Chloe Ferrari led all players with 11 kills, while only committing one error to hit for a .625 clip, and she recorded four blocks, one solo. Taylor Hollins also recorded double-digit kills with 10, while also recording eight digs. Both Sandra Lozic and Katie Hoekman recorded eight kills apiece. Jianna Bonomi (18 assists) and Rachel Alvey (17 assists) helped steer the team to a .340 attack percentage, while C'era Oliveira led the team with 12 digs.

In the first set, an Alaysia Brown kill sparked a 7-2 Torero run right out of the gates, forcing the Broncos into a timeout. USD then put together a 5-3 run to grab a 12-5 lead, forcing the Broncos into their final timeout. USD was just too much for the Broncos to overcome, as they cruised their way to a 25-15 win.

In the second set, it was much closer, as the Broncos were able to hang with the Toreros point-for-point for a majority of the frame. Then with the score knotted at 11-all, a SCU attack error sparked a 5-2 San Diego run, forcing the visitors into a timeout. After the Broncos took the next point, USD went on a 4-0 run to again force Santa Clara into a timeout. USD never looked back, as they then went on to take a 25-17 win, to go into the break up two sets to none.

In the third and final set, it was all USD, as a Ferrari kill sparked a 12-4 Torero run right out of the gates. This proved to be too much for the Broncos to overcome, as USD cruised its way to a 25-10 win, completing the sweep.

The Toreros will return to action on Thursday, as they head to the Pacific Northwest to take on Gonzaga University in a 6 p.m. WCC match.
