SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Senior catcher Austin Green of the University of San Diego baseball team has been named the West Coast Conference Player of the Month, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Green, a 6-3 senior from San Diego, helped lead USD to a 9-5 record in May, including winning the WCC Tournament championship. Green was named to the All-WCC Tournament team, and he was also named All-WCC Honorable mention. For the month, Green led the team's offense, as he went 30-for-62 (.482) with six doubles, two home runs and 20 RBI. Green had several great performances in May, including a perfect 4-for-4, two home runs and six RBI day against Portland. He also went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI in a win against Saint Mary's. He then went 3-for-5 with a double and one RBI in a loss to UC Riverside. He all together had 12 multi-hit games in May, including finishing the month recording multi hit games in 10 of the final 11 games on the month.
