SAN DIEGO — Jared Suwyn has been named USD's Director of Baseball Operations, head coach
Brock Ungricht announced on Wednesday evening.
Suwyn will oversee all aspects of the program's travel, nutrition, and day-to-day operations, including the student manager program. He will also serve as the team's liaison to USD's Strategic Communications, Marketing, and Equipment units.
"I'm thrilled to officially welcome Jared Suwyn to the San Diego baseball family as our Director of Baseball Operations," said Ungricht. "He has a bright baseball mind that has energized and organized our youth camps over the last couple of years and has great experience at all levels of the game, including time with multiple San Diego colleges.
Jared's high-level organizational skills and logistical acumen will be a great fit for our program as we pursue a third straight conference title."
Suwyn brings a wealth of local baseball experience to Alcala Park after coaching at Cal State San Marcos, Palomar College, and multiple nearby high schools.
Most recently, he has served as USD Baseball's Youth Summer Camp Director, managing the on-site experience for hundreds of campers at Fowler Park since 2023.
Suwyn began his coaching career in 2009 as the head varsity coach at Mira Mesa High School before later accepting the same position at Kearny High School.
In 2012, he joined Palomar College, where he worked primarily with the program's pitchers as an assistant coach, and from 2015 to 2019 he was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Cal State San Marcos, also instructing the team's pitchers while handling baseball operations duties.
Suwyn founded High Standards Youth Baseball in 2022, a travel sports organization based out of La Jolla that has teams with athletes from ages 8 to 11.
He and his wife Angela have three children: Kayleigh, Chase, and Aria.
San Diego baseball will begin its 2026 season in February.
