(Simi Valley, Calif.) - The USD men's golf team placed 7th at the 2014 Bill Cullum Invitational with a three-round team score of 868 (+4). The two-day event was being held at Wood Ranch Golf Club (par 72 - 6,810 yards) in Simi Valley, California. The Toreros wrapped up their second round this morning with a team score of 287, but closed with 297 in this afternoon's final round. USD senior Grant Forrest (North Berwick, Scotland) finished in a tie for 8th individually with his 5-under par total of 211 (69-69-73). The USC Trojans won the team title with a score of 833 (-31) in the twenty team tourney as they beat out runner-up ASU by 13 strokes. Medalist honors went to Arizona State's Jon Rahm who finished at 13-under par 203 (67-67-69) in the 108 player field. He edged out USC's Rico Hoey by one stroke (65-67-72, 204).
Rounding out USD team scoring was senior Mathias Dahl (T21 at 216, 73-71-72), freshman Daniel Lopez (T35 at 219, 71-73-75), junior Will Twitty (T54 at 222, 71-74-77), and junior Alex Chiarella (T79 at 228, 74-75-79). Junior Colin Pearson, playing as an individual, finished tied for 49th overall at 221 (74-76-71).
Next up for the Toreros is the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational that will be held November 3-5.
