PORTLAND, Ore. - The USD men's soccer team (8-4-4, 4-0-0) extended their win streak to four matches with a 2-0 win at Portland (4-8-4, 0-3-1) Sunday afternoon. Connor Brandt and Merlin Hoeckendorff each scored as the Toreros recorded their second straight shutout and sixth of the season.

The Toreros, who held a 19-8 advantage in shots, took the lead in the 19th minute when Connor Brandt connected on a penalty kick. It was Brandt's fifth goal of the season, putting him in a tie with Torrey DeArmas for the team lead.

USD was able to extend their lead in the 72nd minute when defender Merlin Hoeckendorff scored his first career goal.

Goalkeeper Thomas Olsen recorded his sixth shutout of the season, only needing to save one ball. The Pilots Paul Christensen collected nine saves, but allowed two goals and was saddled with the loss.

With just three matches remaining in the season, the Toreros sit alone atop the WCC standings with 12 points. San Francisco is also undefeated in conference play at 3-0-0, but had Sunday off. The Toreros will face the Dons in San Francisco on Sunday at 2:00 p.m., but will first play Santa Clara at home in Friday at 7:00 p.m.
