SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The USD swim team competed in their final meet of 2014 when they hosted Northern Arizona Saturday afternoon. The Toreros were edged by NAU 150-109, but were able to take first place in six events.
Highlighting the day for the Toreros was Jackie Taylor and Sarah Reierson, who each won two events. Taylor won the 100 (53:50) and 200 yard freestyle (1:52.99), while Reierson took first place in the 100 (1:00.64) and 200 yard backstroke (2:10.34). Taylor also teamed up with Danielle Deiparine, Stephanie Jones, and Gwen Walter to win the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:37.06.
Taylor Noonan also had a strong day for USD, earning a first place finish in the 100 yard butterfly (58.06), while claiming second place in both the 50 Free (25:24) and the 200 Free (1:54.29).
Keenan Lineback earned second place honors in the 200 IM with a time of 2:13.68.
Stephanie Jones had two individual top-three finishes, coming in third in the 50 (25:38) and 100 yard freestyle (56:05). Jones also helped the Toreros earn third in the 200 yard medley relay. Along with Reierson, Deiparine, and Noonan, the Toreros finished in 1:51.91.
Other top three finishes for the Toreros include: Gwen Walter (1000 freestyle, 10:44.55), Julia Personeni (100 breast, 1:09.84), Danielle Deiparine (200 breast, 2:25.89), and Sarah Reierson (200 IM, 2:14.16).
Morgan Scarth also swam a season best time of 1:08.07 in the 100 yard butterfly.
The Toreros have a break until 2015, but will have a busy January that features seven meets. They will return to the pool January 3rd when they host Air Force, Boise State, and San Jose State for a relay meet.
