MALIBU, Calif. - Behind a balanced offensive attack, the University of San Diego women's basketball team cruised its way to a 73-46 win over Pepperdine University Saturday afternoon at the Firestone Fieldhouse.

With the win, the Toreros improve to 22-6 overall, move to 11-6 in the WCC and have completed a season sweep over the Waves. With the loss, Pepperdine falls to 5-22 overall and 1-15 in the WCC.

Malina Hood paced the Toreros offense scoring a game-high 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field, including hitting on six three-pointers. Amy Kame was the next Torero in double figures with 17 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field, while also dishing out six assists. Sophia Ederaine rounded off the double-digit scorers with 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field, while Kameron Knutson had a near double-double with nine points and nine rebounds. As a team, USD shot 47.5% from the field, and out rebounded the Waves 43-33.

Pepperdine, who shot a woeful 27.8% from the field for the game, had their shooting woes start early, as the Waves missed their first eight shots and allowed USD to jump out to a 14-0 lead. The Toreros held the Waves to without a basket until the 13:45 mark, when Tessa Emerson scored the first basket of the game for the home team. After USD build up a lead by as many as 16 in the first half, the Waves showed some life with an 8-0 run that was capped off by a three-pointer by Grace Leah Baughn, making it a seven-point game at 28-21 with 3:19 left in the first half.

But the Toreros reasserted themselves and closed out the half on a 12-5 run to go into the halftime break with a 40-26 lead. The Waves got no closer than 13 points in the second half, and USD's largest lead was 32.

The Toreros will return to action on Saturday, as they travel to Provo, Utah to take on the Cougars of BYU in a 12 p.m. This will be the final regular-season game of the season.
