SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's rowing is preparing to kick off their 2014 spring racing season with a scrimmage in their home waters of Mission Bay this weekend. The Toreros will welcome Minnesota to San Diego for three days of exhibition racing.
After winning West Coast Conference titles three consecutive years (2010-12), the Toreros finished in second place last year, and are looking to regain their spot atop the WCC standings.
Minnesota, who competes in the Big Ten, have made a routine of coming to San Diego for winter training camps to train in more favorable weather. This marks the third consecutive year that the two squads have organized a preseason scrimmage with each other. The exhibition will give both teams a chance to dust off the cobwebs since their last official races three months ago.
The Toreros will have another exhibition event in Mission Bay February 22nd against San Diego State, UC San Diego, and OCC.
