San Diego Rowing Set to Compete on Mission Bay for San Diego Crew Classic

SAN DIEGO – San Diego men's amd women's rowing will take to its home waters just to the west of America's Most Beautiful Campus on Mission Bay for the annual San Diego Crew Classic on Saturday and Sunday, March 28 and 29.

For the Torero women, the highly-touted regatta kicks off the inaugural spring regular season under head coach Katie Thurstin.

"I'm excited that our team's first race is at such a historic event," said Thurstin "The San Diego Crew Classic has been around since 1973.  A lot of families, friends and alumni come to the event to cheer on the team. The team has been really focused on their training and trusting the process.  I think we are ready to put everything together and see what we can do on the race course. There will be a lot of fast teams racing this weekend.  Anytime we can compete and make boats go fast is a good day. "

For the men, it is their third of the spring after strong performances at the California Challenge Cup and Redwood Shores Invitational.

For decades the Crew Classic has provided athletes and spectators an outstanding combination of action-packed competition with some of the nation's top collegiate teams, San Diego's finest food and beer, and grand hospitality events, all set in the iconic Crown Point venue on Mission Bay.

Spectating
The Crew Classic is a gated venue so a ticket is required to access the finish line and hospitality areas. Visitors may also see the races from Ski Beach on the east side of Vacation Island, the southeast end of Crown Point, or from either of the Ingraham Street Bridges.

Tickets may be purchased at www.crewclassic.org/tickets and USD supporters may use the code USD26 for a discount on their General Admission tickets. Children under the age of 12, active duty military and students WITH ID may enter the regatta free of charge.

USD will have an active alumni tent at the regatta which is a great place for fans, supporters, families and alumni to relax, watch racing and reconnect. Look for the USD flags on the tents at Alumni Row.

Please note: the Crew Classic has a strict no dogs policy due to city ordinance.
