SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The USD Softball team (22-20, 7-4) fell to Pacific 2-0 in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader. The Toreros won the first game in dramatic fashion when Jenny Lahitte hit a pinch hit seventh inning three run home run to lift the Toreros to a 4-2. The two teams will square off in the rubber match on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
The Tigers scored their two runs in the bottom of the second when Alex Steinmehl and Bailey O'Mara hit back to back RBI doubles.
The Toreros biggest threat came in the third inning when Jenny Lahitte and Danielle Mavridis hit a pair of two out singles. Tigers' starter Dani Bonnet was able to induce an inning-ending groundout to escape the jam.
The Toreros had seven hits to the Tigers five, but couldn't knock any of their base runners home. Jenny Lahitte (8-10) was saddled with the loss despite giving up just one earned run. Bonnet (11-7) earned the win, throwing a complete game shutout.
The Toreros and Tigers are tied with 7-4 records in WCC play and will wrap up their three game series with Pacifc on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
