SAN DIEGO — Five San Diego softball players received 2026 West Coast Conference All-Academic Honorable Mention recognition, the league announced on Thursday, as
Mallory Axline,
Taylor Johnson,
Hailey Mulligan,
Alex Riggs, and
Kelsey Tadlock were honored for their academic achievements alongside their contributions on the field.
Axline, a sophomore Finance major who posted a 3.73 GPA, was one of the most consistent offensive contributors on the roster in 2026 — batting .289 with 41 hits, three triples, and 15 RBIs across 46 games while holding the team's longest hitting streak of the season at 11 games.
Johnson, a senior Business Administration and Marketing double major with a 3.27 GPA, capped her Torero career with an All-WCC Honorable Mention nod after leading the team in home runs (six), doubles (15), RBIs (26), and slugging percentage (.535) across 50 games. The 2024 WCC Batting Champion departs as one of the most accomplished offensive players in recent program history.
Mulligan, a senior Business Administration major who recorded a 3.44 GPA, provided steady production in the middle of the Toreros' lineup all season — batting .293 with 10 doubles and nine RBIs across 33 games.
Riggs, a sophomore Business Administration and Marketing double major with a 3.31 GPA, emerged as a reliable option in the USD pitching staff in 2026 — making 20 appearances and posting two saves while striking out 25 batters across 39.2 innings. She closed out San Diego's 5-3 victory at Pacific on May 2 with three scoreless innings of relief.
Tadlock, a senior Real Estate and Marketing double major who also posted a 3.31 GPA, closed out her Torero career in unforgettable fashion — carrying a no-hitter into the seventh inning on Senior Day before finishing with six dominant innings in a 3-0 shutout victory over Seattle U in her final collegiate start. The left-hander posted a 5-4 record across 26 appearances and 65.0 innings in 2026 and was named the WCC Pitcher of the Week on March 23 after allowing just one earned run across 6.2 innings in two appearances at Sacramento State.
San Diego's five honorees are part of a 2026 WCC All-Academic class that includes 13 All-Academic Team selections and 51 Honorable Mention recipients across the conference.
