LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's soccer team (1-2-1) dropped a 2-0 decision to No. 1 UCLA (3-0-1) Sunday evening in a non-conference game at Drake Stadium.
After the two teams battled to a scoreless first half, the Bruins scored the first goal of the match in the 56th minute of action. Sam Mewis scored the game-winner from long range, after corralling a pass from Sarah Killion, to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead.
UCLA then scored the final goal of the game in the 68th minute of action. Kodi Lavrusky snuck one past the USD `keeper to put the match at its final of 2-0.
UCLA out shot the Toreros 23-1, and they held a territorial 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Michelle Craft was saddled with the loss in goal for the Toreros, as she allowed two goals and recorded a season-high 10 saves. UCLA's Katelyn Rowland was credited with the win for the Bruins, as she allowed no goals and recorded one save.
The Toreros will return to action on Friday, as they head to Long Beach to take on he 49ers of Long Beach State University at 7 p.m.
