SWI Day One

(Westlake Village, Calif.) - The USD men's golf team is competing in their first tournament of the 2014-15 season and find themselves in 6th place (12 teams) with one round to go at the Southwestern Intercollegiate being played at North Ranch Country Club (par 71, 6964 yards). After two rounds of the three round tournament the Toreros have a team score of 592 (+24). Stanford leads the event (572, +4) and has two of three players tied for first at 138 (-4).

Will Twitty fired rounds of 69-76 and is currently tied for 13th overall at 145. He was matched by freshman teammate Daniel Lopez who is playing as an individual (72-73). Rounding out USD scoring was Mathias Dahl (T26 at 148; 76-72), Alex Chiarella (T32 at 149; 72-77), Skyler Finnell (T54 at 154; 79-75) and Regan Kilpatrick (T68 at 159; 86-73).

Individually Stanford's tandem of Jim Liu (69-69) and Maverick McNealy (66-72), and Pepperdine's Kevin DeHuff (67-71), lead the event with their 4-under par totals of 138. The third and final round will begin Tuesday at 8:00 am.
