Box Score

NASHVILLE, Tenn. â€" The University of San Diego men's soccer team picked up a thrilling 3-1 win over Lipscomb University Saturday evening in a non-conference match.

With the win, the Toreros improve to 8-4-2 overall, have run their wining streak to four, and have now scored three goals in four consecutive matches. With the loss, the Bison fall to 5-9-1 overall, and have now lost three of their last four matches.

The Toreros wasted no time in scoring, as in the 12th minute of action, Torrey DeArmas took the ball on the right side of the goal box, then slipped the ball over to Michael Turner, who in turn fired off a rocket shot to the left side of the goal, which cruised into the back of the net, to give USD a 1-0 lead.

The Bison then found themselves back on even terms with the Toreros in the 28th minute of action, as Ivan Alvarado sent a cross to the left side of the goal box, where Kevin McMahan headed the ball into the back of the net, to move the score to 1-1.

Shortly into the second half, USD regained the lead for good, as in the 54th minute, Eric Budniewski took a corner kick for San Diego, and he skied the ball into a crowded goal box, where the ball was deflected right to Parker Price, and he redirected the ball into the net, to move the score to 2-1.

San Diego wasn't done just yet, as just two minutes later USD put the match out of reach. Jose Merlo sent a pass to Keegan Smith, and he in turned fired off a rocket shot from the top right of the box and into the back of the goal, putting the match at its final of 3-1.

The Toreros out shot the Bison 11-6, and held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Thomas Olsen picked up the win in goal for the Toreros, as he allowed one goal and recorded four saves. His counterpart, Micah Bledsoe, was saddled with the loss for the Bison, as he allowed three goals and recorded two saves.

San Diego will return to action on Friday, as they resume West Coast Conference play on Friday, when they travel to Stockton, Calif. to take on the University of the Pacific in a 7 p.m. match.
