SAN DIEGO, Calif. â€" The University of San Diego women's soccer team picked up a thrilling 1-0 overtime win over Pepperdine University Saturday evening in a West Coast Conference match at Torero Stadium.

With the win, the Toreros improve to 4-13-2 overall, and move to 2-6-0 in the WCC. With the loss, the Waves fall to 8-9-2 overall, and 3-5-0 in the WCC.

After the two teams battled through a scoreless two halves, San Diego went to work shortly into the overtime frame. In the 94th minute of action, a Pepperdine defender was chasing a USD player on the left side of the goal box, tackled her from behind, committing a foul, and setting up a penalty kick situation. USD then sent Jacqueline Altschuld to take the shot, and she buried the ball into the left side of the goal, to give USD the 1-0 win.

San Diego nearly put the game away in the final minutes of regulation, as Altschuld took control of the ball near midfield, took a few touches, then sent a through pass to a streaking Maggie Ghotbi on the left side, an she had a one-on-one with the Pepperdine keeper, but she could not get a shot off, as a Pepperdine defender came from behind and poked the ball lose at the last second.

San Diego was outshot 12-4, and the Waves held a slight 10-7 advantage in corner kicks.

Michelle Craft picked up the shutout win in goal for USD, as she allowed no goals and recorded seven saves. Hannah Seabert was saddled with the loss for the Waves, as she allowed one goal and recorded no saves.

San Diego will return to action on Friday, as they host the University of the Pacific Tigers in a 7:30 p.m. WCC match at Torero Stadium.
