SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's tennis team faced their second loss against a nationally ranked team Saturday morning at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center. The Toreros fell to No. 51 Washington 6-1 in a match that consisted of comebacks and tight sets. The highlight of this morning's match included a strong win from junior Marta Stojanovic who knocked off No. 80 Elianne Douglas-Miron in three sets.

The Huskies got to an early lead as doubles began play. After picking up a victory at the No. 3 spot, Washington was able to clinch against No. 2 doubles tandem juniors Marta Stojanovic and Shani Blecher. Junior Dana Oppinger and freshman Drew Spinosa were leading against the Huskies 5-2 before play was called.

The Toreros struggled to make headway at the No. 5 and 6 spots contributing to Washington's 3-0 lead early on. Huskies' Miki Kobayashi proved to be too much at the No. 3 spot taking down Spinosa in straight sets. This win would clinch the match for Washington.

Although suffering a loss at the No. 4 spot, the remaining matches would go into tight, three-set battles. Oppinger dropped her first set, but came back to equalize after a thrilling tiebreaker in the second set. Washington's Grace Ysidora narrowly ousted Oppinger in the third set super tiebreaker and took the match 6-2, 6-7(6), 1-0(3).

Stojanovic would grab the sole win for the Toreros. Although losing the first set, Stojanovic came back to triumph in a nail-biting third set super tiebreaker edging out No. 80 Elianne Douglas-Miron 3-6, 6-3, 1-0(8). The win marks Stojanovic's first ranked win of the season.

The Toreros return to action at home against the University of Kentucky, February 20th, at 1:30 p.m. - PT, at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center.
