LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The No. 30 University of San Diego men's tennis team sustained their imposing performance Friday afternoon at the Loyola Marymount Tennis Center. The Toreros followed their strong doubles play into singles only dropping one match and defeating the Lions 6-1. The victory marks the Toreros' second West Coast Conference win.

Senior Ciaran Fitzgerald and sophomore Geoffrey Fosso kicked off the afternoon smoothly knocking off Lions' Felix Van Kann and Othar Kordaschia 6-2. Continuing their undefeated dual season was doubles tandem junior Jordan Angus and sophomore Filip Vittek. The pair got the victory over LMU's Charles Boyce and Errol Smith at the No. 1 spot. Although the doubles point was clinched, juniors Romain Kalaydjian and Uros Petronijevic picked up a win as well.

In singles play, Vittek would pick up the first point for the Toreros extending their lead to two. The Slovakian native withstood his undefeated stand as well, taking down LMU's Charles Boyce 7-5, 6-4. While freshman James Ponwith was unable to pick up the point at the No. 6 spot, Angus answered - getting the victory over Lions' Felix Van Kann in straight sets. Petronijevic would clinch for the second time in a row for the Toreros in a three-set battle against Lions' Errol Smith (2-6, 6-4, 6-4).

The remaining matches would go in favor of San Diego. Fosso extended his winning streak to seven after a victory over LMU's Joat Farah 7-5, 6-3. Although dropping the first set, Kalaydjian prevailed as well defeating Cristobal Rivera 1-6, 7-6, 6-4.

"Good match all around," Head coach Brett Masi noted after the match. "The guys competed hard and got the job done. We have a big match next week against the USC Trojans and we are ready to go for it!"

The Toreros look to continue their hot streak against top-ranked USC Thursday, March 5th, at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club.
