(Tucson, AZ) - The USD golf team is competing at the 2015 National Invitational Tournament and were in 7th place after day one of the event after shooting a team score of 294 (+6). New Mexico State (283, -5) and Santa Clara (284, -4) turned in the day's best team scores on the Tucson National Golf Course (par 72, yardage 7,200). Luis Medina of New Mexico State fired an opening round 68 (-4) to lead all golfers.

Grant Forrest carded a first round score of even par 72 (tie-17th) to pace the Toreros. He was followed by Mathias Dahl (T24 at 73, +1), Alex Chiarella (T30 at 74, +2), Will Twitty (T37 at 75, +3) and Colin Pearson (T59 at 77, +5). Regan Kilpatrick, playing as an individual, fired an opening round 75 and is tied for 37th.

Round two will be played on Sunday beginning at 8:00 am with the three-day tournament wrapping up on Monday.
