SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The Torero women's soccer team (1-3-1) played No. 23 Long Beach State (3-1-1) to a 0-0 draw Friday evening at Torero Stadium for their first shutout of the 2015 season.
The Torero defense was strong all night and didn't allow the 49er's to get their first shot until the 25th minute. Both teams had few opportunities and there were only eight combined shots on goal all evening.
The Toreros had their best shot in the 19th minute when Jacqueline Altschuld launched a free kick behind the LBSU defense to Caitlyn Kretzschmar, who had a decent look from the left wing, but her shot missed wide right.
The 49er's best opportunity came in the 73rd minute when Jessica Vincent had a one-on-one with Torero keeper Michelle Craft coming from the left side, but Vincent sailed her shot high.
Altschuld led the Toreros with five shots, putting three of them on frame. Keeper Michelle Craft (1-3-1) had three saves and picked up her first shutout of 2015.
The Toreros return to action on Sunday when they host the Utah Utes at 1:00 p.m. at Torero Stadium.
