SPOKANE, Wash. - The Torero men's basketball team (6-11, 1-5) fell at No. 21 Gonzaga 88-52 Saturday evening. Senior Duda Sanadze led the Toreros with 21 points and collected a team-high six rebounds, notching his fifth 20 point game of the season.

Backed by Sanadze's ten early points, the Toreros had a fast start offensively and were tied 19-all midway through the first half. However as USD went cold, Gonzaga took advantage and went on a 14-0 run, opening up a 33-19 lead with just under six minutes left.

The Toreros went into the locker room with their largest deficit of the first half, trailing the Zags 46-27. Sanadze led the Toreros with 14 first half points.

USD started the second half on an 8-0 run to bring the score to 46-35, but that would be the closest the Toreros would get. They missed their next seven field goals, allowing Gonzaga to go on a 12-0 run and take a 58-35 lead. The Zags would go up by as much as 40 points on their way to an 88-52 victory.

The Bulldogs were led by Kyle Wiltjer's 25 points (10-for-15). Domantas Sabonis had a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds.

"I tip my hat off to Jito [Kok}, Sabonis was only 5-for-11 for 14 points, well under his average," Head Coach Lamont Smith said. "I thought Jito competed tremendously. The guy that got away from us was Wiltjer; coming off a 35 point night, he had a heck of a weekend and will probably be the WCC Player of the Week with those two performances."

The Toreros were held to 31 percent shooting, while the Bulldogs converted 57 percent of their shots from the field and 61 percent from outside (11-18). Gonzaga's 88 points were the most USD has given up all season.

The Toreros are on the road again next week, playing at Pepperdine on Thursday (6:00 p.m.) and at LMU on Saturday (3:00 p.m.)
