Toreros Fall to Gaels, 3-1

MORAGA, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 West Coast Conference decision to Saint Mary's College Saturday afternoon.

With the loss, the Toreros fall to 9-8-0 overall, and 4-4-0 in the WCC. With the win, the Gaels improve to 4-13-2 overall, and move to 2-6-0 in the WCC.

The Gaels got on the scoreboard first, as in the seventh minute of action, Hannah Diaz passed the ball from the left side of the box, to Jessica Imbrie, who tapped the ball into the back of the goal, giving the home team a 1-0 lead.

San Diego then evened up the score in the 20th minute of the match, as Summer Mason dribbled the ball to the right side, and fired off a shot from 20 yards out, and into the back of the net, to move the score to 1-1.

SMC then went on to score goals in the 25th and 81st minutes of play, to put the match at its final of 3-1.

USD was outshoot 15-10, but held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Amber Michel was saddled with the loss inn goal for USD, as she allowed three goals and recorded six saves. Her counterpart, J McDonald, picked up the win in goal for the Gales, as she allowed one goal and recorded four saves.

The Toreros will return to action on Friday, as they return to the friendly confines of Torero Stadium to take on the Portland Pilots inn a 7 p.m., match.
