Lions Deal USD a 1-0 Loss

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Loyola Marymount University Saturday evening in a West Coast Conference match.

With the loss, the Toreros fall to 7-6-1 overall, and 2-2-0 in the WCC. With the win, the Lions improve to 8-3-3 overall, and 3-1-1 in the WCC.

After both teams battled through a scoreless first half, it was LMU who was able to get on the scoreboard in the 61st minute of play. Shelby Cormier took a free kick for the Lions, and the ball found the head of Raquel Angelone, who was able to slip it past the USD defense, and into the back of the net, giving the Lions a 1-0 victory.

The Lions outshot the Toreros, 15-8, and each team had four corner kicks.

Amber Michel was saddled with the loss in goal for USD, as she allowed one goal and recorded seven saves. Her counterpart, Charlee Pruitt, picked up the win, as she allowed no goals and recorded four saves.

The Toreros will return to action on Saturday, as they welcome Gonzaga University to Torero Stadium for a 7 p.m. WCC match.
