Toreros Ink A Pair to NLI's

Nov. 15, 2016

SAN DIEGO, Calif. â€" Head coach Jennifer Petrie of the 11th ranked University of San Diego women's volleyball team has announced the signing of two players to National Letters of Intent. Joining the Toreros in 2017 will be Hannah Patrick (Seal Beach, Calif./ Rosary Academy) and Roxie Wiblin (Berkeley, Calif./Berkeley HS).

"I am thrilled to announce the signing of Roxie Wiblin and Hannah Patrick," said Petrie. "The California duo will add tremendously to the depth of our program as pin hitters and ball control players. Roxie will be joining us this spring to train and start her college career, while Hannah will be with us this summer to prepare for our 2017 season. As always, we look forward to the addition of stellar student-athletes, and with Hannah and Roxie the future is bright for USD Volleyball."

Hannah Patrick

Patrick, a 6-2 rightside hitter, joins the Toreros after an outstanding career at Rosary Academy. She is a two-time second-team All-League performer, and a two-time scholar athlete. She recorded 174 kills, 116 digs, had 31 blocks and 24 aces as a freshman. She's also competed at the highest level of club volleyball, leading her team in the Junior Nationals Open division in 2014 and 2015. She played for the USA High Performance team in 2013, and SCVA Regional High Performance team in 2014, where her team took fourth place in the USA High Performance Championship Tournament. She was named a Prep Volleyball top-50 recruit in 2015, and Prep Volleyball senior ace in 2017.

Patrick was also recruited by Long Beach State, Arizona, Virginia, and Marquette. However, she chose USD stating, "I first fell in love with the campus when I toured in 8th grade for my brother. USD offers a top ranked volleyball program as well as a great location and small class sizes. All things I was looking for in a school. After getting to know the coaching staff I knew this was the place for me."

Roxie Wiblin

Wiblin, a 6-2 outside hitter, comes to USD after a standout career at Berkeley High School. She is a two-time first-team All-League selection, and a two-time AVCA Phenom as a junior and senior. She was also named second-team All-League as a sophomore. Wiblin hit .309 as a senior, hit .462 as a junior, and .366 as a freshman. She helped lead her club team, Encore Volleyball club, to a third place finish at the Junior Olympic National Championships (2015), and a top-10 national ranking in 2016. She also competed in beach volleyball, where she won an AAU national championship in 2011. She was a Beach Volleyball AAU 3rd place finisher in 2014, a USAVB HP A1 future select national team member in 2011, and a USAVB HP A1/A2 select national team member in 2012.

Wiblin was heavily recruited by USC, UCLA (beach), Arizona, UC Davis, UC Irvine, and UC Santa Barbara, but chose to attend USD because of the amazing coaching staff, location, and great volleyball program.
