SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The No. 31 Toreros men's tennis team (18-7, 6-0 WCC) earned a 4-0 victory over the No. 56 Pepperdine Waves (10-10, 4-3 WCC) Sunday at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center. San Diego extended their WCC winning streak to 24-matches with the victory and the Toreros have now beaten the Waves in five straight matches. The Toreros finished their home schedule with a 13-2 record at USD.

"Whenever you go up against Pepperdine, you know it's going to be a war." Head coach Ryan Keckley said. "They play with an in-your-face energy that is going to bring out the best in all competitors and that is certainly what we brought to the table today. It was a great crowd for senior day. I would like to thank Andrea Tyndall for an amazing presentation on behalf of the SoCal USPTA before today's match. I also want to thank USD's Kappa Delta and Kappa Alpha Theta sororities for the support they showed us."

Senior No. 57 Uros Petronijevic put an exclamation point on the senior day festivities as he sealed the San Diego victory with a 6-2, 7-6(0) win over Guilhereme Hadlich in the No. 1 spot. The win gives Petronijevic 83 singles victories as a Torero, tying him for the tenth-most all-time.

"After winning the first set, Uki was down 2-5 in the second. He remained calm and played with poise the entire match." Keckley said. "I was impressed with how well he handled the adversity and competed like a true senior, winning the second set 7-6 and clinching the 'W' for the Toreros."

Fellow senior Romain Kalaydjian also won his final match at the USD tennis center with a 6-4, 6-3 win on the No. 5 court. The win over the Waves' Tom Hill gives Kalaydjian a team-best six-match winning streak heading into the final three matches of the season.

Sophomore Alex Araouzos got in on the fun with a 6-4, 6-1 defeat of Nicholas Baez on court No. 6. The tall underclassman is now 8-2 in his last 10 matches and 5-0 against WCC opponents.

"In singles, we battled some initial nerves and fought off some Pepperdine momentum early." Keckley added. "We gathered our game plans and took four of the first six sets. We stressed how important our depth would be this year and it was great to see those two (Kalaydjian and Araouzos) lead the way."

The Toreros started the day with fantastic doubles play on court no. 2. Jordan Angus and Joshua Page teamed up for a 6-0 win over Pedro Iamachkine and Gabriel Sidney. Petronijevic and Filip Vittek took care of business on court No. 1 as they defeated Hadlich and Lautaro Pane 6-3. Kalaydjian and Araouzos abandoned their match after San Diego had clinched the point.

"It started with a commanding performance from our two Brits (Angus and Page) jumping out to a 6-0 win. Our no. 1 team played beautiful, calculated doubles and took the point." Keckley said of the doubles play.

No. 63 Angus was up a set in the No. 2 spot over Pane after a hard fought 7-6(5) first set. Vittek and Jaan Kononov each led their matches by identical 3-6, 6-1, 2-1 scores when play was stopped.

The Toreros will finsh their season with three WCC road matches next week. They will start with a match at Pacific on Friday before continuing play at Saint Mary's on Saturday. The regular season will come to an end when San Diego makes up their rained-out match against Santa Clara on Sunday.
